Muslim Television Ahmadiyya (MTA) is the global satellite TV network consisting of 4 international channels run and funded by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. The first channel, MTA 1 was officially launched on 1 January 1994. Earlier, in 1992 the station started its digital service and in the UK it was available on Sky (Channel 787) network as a free channel. Initially it was named AMP or Ahmadiyya Muslim Presentation. The name was afterwards changed to Muslim Television Ahmadiyya or MTA International and then to MTA1 (MTA Al-Ula). The channel was established by Mirza Tahir Ahmad. It became the First International Muslim channel to broadcast a host of Islamic programming. The MTA is not only a new television channel for the Muslim community but has become the main source of media for the Ahmadiyya Muslim community all across the world. Many of the Islamic educators believe that using new technology is very beneficial for out-reaching purposes and spreading awareness about Islam to different societies. Thus there is a paradigm shift from using scriptures and books to technology and these new technological advancements are not created just for communication or education, but also to stimulate the human mind. The Muslim Television Ahmadiyya International (MTA) is the first non-commercial Islamic television station to be aired worldwide 24 hours a day. The MTA is not dependent on sponsorships or license fees; this allows the network to concentrate on producing variety of programs that discuss various subjects for its viewers around the world. The programs are however not only religious, but also cultural, economical and educational content. To be more specific the subjects vary from matters such as International news, Sports, Science, Medicine, Children's shows and Documentaries. MTA’s contribution is provided by members in a non-profit organization known as (Waqar-e-Amal) who are usually Islamic believers and out of good faith help manage the daily operations of the network. MTA involves itself in all aspects of television from production to transmission they uses state of the art equipment in editing, filming and enhancing the viewer’s experience. MTA has taken the initiative, which is helping humanity sponsoring charity events and reaching the corners of the Earth showing the true face of Islam and their beliefs.
